Call for 2025-2026 Volunteers
The mission of the AFHS PTSA is to see that every Apex Friendship High School student achieves success and reaches their potential by supporting our students, families, staff, faculty, and community. It is with great pride that we offer scholarships to encourage our seniors to continue their education beyond high school. These scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated exceptional effort to enrich their school and community through volunteer service, academic excellence, and leadership.
To support our students as they prepare for their journey after AFHS, the PTSA is pleased to award a total of $5,000 to deserving AFHS graduating seniors, our Patriot Scholars. The scholarships will range from $500 to $1,000. These scholarships are intended for graduating seniors who will attend a tuition-based two-year or four-year college, university, or trade school and enroll in a course of study for the Summer/Fall semester immediately following graduation from AFHS.
Student must be a graduating senior at AFHS in 2025.
Student must be an AFHS PTSA member prior to applying (membership will be verified as part of the review process); join the PTSA now at Membership.
Student must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA.
Student must complete all required sections of the application.
Student must be furthering their education in the semester (Summer/Fall) following graduation; this scholarship is intended to help defray costs associated with post-secondary education at a tuition-based institution of higher learning. Students must be prepared to provide an acceptance/enrollment letter from the institution.
Student must indicate they have a need for financial assistance and do not anticipate other grants/scholarships/awards which will cover the entire balance due to the academic institution for the upcoming year.
Application must be submitted by 11:59pm Sunday, April 27th, 2025.
Applications will be reviewed anonymously by a staff scholarship review panel. The panel will only know applications based on assigned numbers, and not student names. Applicants may be disqualified at the discretion of the PTSA and Scholarship Review Panel, if application rules are not followed or if misconduct and/or application process tampering (including panel inquiries) is discovered. All decisions made by the scholarship review panel are final.
The AFHS PTSA will notify selected students directly via email on May 11, 2025. Be sure to provide an email address that you check regularly in your application. An awarded scholarship may be forfeited, if a selected student fails to respond and submit the required documentation as outlined in the notification email.
A certificate will be presented at the Senior Awards event in June 2025. Event details are pending.
Patriot Scholars will receive an award letter and acknowledgement form that will need to be returned along with requested documentation BEFORE the scholarship check will be issued. Payment of Award will be made directly to the institution of higher learning, upon verification that the student is enrolled at that institution to begin classes in the Summer/Fall semester following graduation. No payment will be made without verification of enrollment.
In the event the selected recipient decides not to further their education in a post-secondary accredited institution in the semester following graduation or receives a scholarship covering full tuition and fees from another source, the student must immediately notify the Senior Scholarship Committee, and the committee will select an alternate student.
If the selected recipient decides not to pursue their post-secondary education after the scholarship funds have been awarded to the accredited institution identified, the student must reimburse the full awarded amount to the AFHS PTSA.
