Mission
The AFHS PTSA's mission is to help each student achieve success and reach their potential by supporting its students, families, staff and faculty.
Summary
All of our Student Reps are a vital part of the PTSA bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and fresh ideas addressing issues that affect Apex Friendship High School.
This is a leadership position and students will be representing the student body. Therefore, it is a competitive application process. This is a great opportunity to be involved with your school and have a leadership opportunity that you can include on your resume or college application..
The Student Reps provide monthly updates to PTSA about student concerns and activities as well as volunteer their time at PTSA-sponsored events during the school year.
Time Commitment
Approximately 20 hours per school year, including meetings and volunteer work. The position starts July 1 through June. Freshman positions begin in August through June. Students are required to work one shift on the AFHS Fun Run. This year the fun run is on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

PTSA General meetings are from approximately 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the AFHS Media Center
Student representatives must attend a mandatory meeting with the PTSA Student Reps Chair on September 9th. This Student Representative meeting will be from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM in the AFHS Media Center. There will be a second meeting happening in February 13, 2025.

Responsibilities
Complete meeting attendance requirements:
Attend at least 2 PTSA meetings during the school year
Attend the 2 meetings with the PTSA Student Reps Chair
Provide communication with board members during the meetings with school updates and concerns.
You are more than welcome to attend as many PTSA meetings as you wish, as we would love to have the student body represented at all of our meetings.
Assist in inviting students to join the PTSA; enhancing student membership
Participate in planning and attending PTSA-sponsored activities
Volunteer at PTSA-sponsored events or projects. Examples include: Spiritwear, Fun Run, Communications, Reflections Celebration, Hospitality events, and Senior Committee, marketing and advertising.
All Grades (9-12) must complete at least ten (10) Service Hours, of which five (5) hours must be completed during Fall semester. Only PTSA Events or PTSA projects will qualify.
Volunteer credit must be verified by committee chair or board member in charge of event/function.
Seniors are eligible for graduation cords in the Spring, if all requirements are met.
Application Process
Requirements to Apply
GPA of 2.0 or higher.
The student representative must be a member of the PTSA.
Student membership cost is $6.00 per year, renewable each new school year.
Join as a Student Member, if you are not already one
This is a year-long commitment, so if you are graduating mid-year, your application will be omitted.
Apply
Applications for 2025-2026 school year will open in Spring of 2025.
Applications will be reviewed by the PTSA Student Reps Chair and nominated by the Board.
Notification
Notifications are done by our Student Representative Chair as soon as they are voted on by the board.
