Monica Cox is a women’s fiction author and Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach. She began her career in public relations who worked in DC then Atlanta on a variety of media campaigns for clients ranging in topics from healthcare to high school sports. She started blogging in 2006 and wrote about the challenges of transitioning from the corporate world to at-home motherhood and documented the joys and pitfalls of on-ramping and flexible work arrangements. She currently writes women’s fiction to tell stories of ordinary women making extraordinary self-discoveries and coaches fellow professional communicators on how to apply their skills to fiction and writing novels. She is a graduate of the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at UNC Chapel Hill. She also helps students create a personal statement that reflects the student and the “special sauce” they bring to their college choices.

Monica is a parent to one college student and one Patriot sophomore.

Monica will discuss what admission officers are looking for in a college essay, when to get started on your essays, the common pitfalls she sees in student essays, and how parents can support their students.
